Chapter 15: The Warmth of Home

That evening, the family gathered in the newly renovated kitchen. The gloomy vault was gone, replaced by a wide sunroom filled with potted plants and warm natural light.
Arthur served hot tea with a rare, warm smile, while Clara baked fresh pastries at the counter.
Lily sat at the marble island, drawing a picture with colorful crayons. Julian leaned down, kissing the top of her head.
“What are you drawing, sweetie?” he asked.
Lily held up the paper proudly. It was a picture of their house, but instead of dark walls, she had drawn a gigantic yellow sun covering the entire roof, with three figures holding hands underneath.
