Chapter 10: A Legacy Restored

With the legal shield holding up against Richard Sterling's aggressive tactics, Ethan turned his full attention to restructuring his life. He decided to convert the estate’s carriage house and sprawling grounds into an artisanal woodworking shop and community craft center—fulfilling a dream Julian had written about extensively in his journal.
He liquidated his remaining personal stocks to settle the small, necessary debts and hire local craftsmen. The mansion, once a cold symbol of solitary wealth, was opened up to local artisans and apprentices who needed space to work and learn.
One morning, Clara walked into the restored carriage house to find Ethan working alongside a young apprentice, teaching him how to join timber without nails—a technique Julian had documented in his notebook.
"You're a natural teacher," Clara remarked as the apprentice walked over to select a new piece of pine.
"I'm just following Julian's notes," Ethan said, wiping sweat from his forehead. "He wrote that true wealth isn't what you gather, but what you teach others to create."
Clara handed him a letter that had arrived in the morning post. "This is from Marcus."
Ethan opened it and read quickly. A subtle smile touched his lips. "Richard Sterling's board voted to replace him as chairman this morning. His aggressive lawsuit against us drained too many company resources, and the shareholders revolted."

Clara gasped softly. "So... it's over?"
"The lawsuit is," Ethan said, pulling her into a gentle side hug. "We are officially broke by corporate standards, but completely free by ours."
