Chapter 8: The Confrontation

I plugged the drive into the main display system. Instantly, the giant screens filled with the forensic toxicology report, highlighting the digitalis compound found in the tea. Next came Elena’s taped confession, her voice echoing through the speakers.
The board members gasped, whispering in shock and disgust.
""This is a forgery!"" Victor spat, standing up and slamming his hands on the table. ""Julian is delusional! Security, remove him!""
""Security isn't coming, Victor,"" I said calmly, stepping closer. ""The police are already downstairs. And so is the federal agent investigating the Blackwood Charity fraud.""
Victor’s eyes darted frantically around the room. The mask of cool confidence shattered completely, exposing the hollow, desperate man underneath.
