The old district was draped in thick morning fog. I pulled my coat tight and walked down the alley toward a dilapidated brick building. The key Sarah had hidden inside the locket fit perfectly into the rusted padlock of unit 402.

Inside, the room smelled of old paper and fresh rain. Sunlight cut through the dusty air, illuminating a crib, a small wooden desk, and walls covered in detailed medical records and financial statements.
