Chapter 10: Tearing Down the Walls**

A week after the press conference, a heavy demolition crew arrived at Highpoint Manor.
Instead of repairing the damaged drywall in the grand hallway, Julian ordered the entire decorative partition wall knocked down completely. He wanted no more hidden spaces, no more sealed corridors, and no more architectural facades designed to conceal reality.
Ethan stood in the courtyard with a bright yellow toy hard hat on his head, holding Victoria’s hand. He watched with wide, fascinated eyes as a miniature excavator battered through the exterior utility annex that Vance had used to access the inner corridors.
With every crash of concrete and timber, Ethan’s shoulders relaxed a little more. The physical symbols of his two-week nightmare were being pulverized into dust and carried away in dumpsters.
"Look, Daddy! The sunlight can go all the way through the hallway now!" Ethan pointed excitedly.
Julian walked over, wearing rugged work boots and a flannel shirt, his hands covered in dust as he had personally helped the crew swing the sledgehammers. He scooped Ethan up onto his shoulders, letting the boy feel tall and free against the blue summer sky.
"That's right, buddy," Julian laughed, feeling the warmth of his son’s hands resting playfully on his head. "From now on, this house has nothing to hide. Only big windows and open doors."
Victoria watched them from the stone steps, a peaceful smile returning to her face for the first time in weeks. The cold, sterile perfection of Highpoint Manor was finally melting away, replaced by the messy, honest warmth of a real home.
Emma walked across the lawn carrying a tray of iced lemonade for the workers. Ethan waved vigorously from Julian’s shoulders. "Emma! Come see! The wall is completely gone!"

Emma smiled warmly, waving back. In that moment, the barriers between employer and servant dissolved into genuine familial affection.
