Chapter 15

Six months later, the Vance estate looked completely transformed. The interior design had been thoroughly overhauled to remove every vestige of cold minimalism, replaced by warm woods, colorful artwork, and vibrant spaces filled with light and life. A golden retriever puppy romped across the living room rug, chasing a red rubber ball while Lily and Chloe laughed hysterically from the sofa.
Julian stood in the doorway of the sunlit kitchen, holding a steaming mug of coffee as he watched his daughters prepare a batch of messy, flour-dusted cookies for an upcoming school bake sale. There were no rigid rules here anymore, no terrifying expectations of perfection, and no shadows lurking in the corners of their home. Just the ordinary, beautiful chaos of a family that had survived the worst and emerged stronger, more bonded than ever before.
Chloe caught sight of her father standing in the doorway and grinned mischievously, holding up a spoonful of thick chocolate batter. "You better hide, Daddy, or you're going to get frosted!"

Julian laughed, raising his hands in mock surrender as he stepped backward into the hallway. "I surrender completely! But if those cookies aren't shared with the puppy, you'll have to answer to me."
The girls' laughter rang out through the house, a sweet, resonant sound that echoed off the white tiled floor and carried up the grand staircase. Julian smiled, feeling a deep, abiding peace settle into his soul. The past could not be erased, but it no longer dictated their future. They had reclaimed their home, their joy, and their lives. The circle was unbroken, and the light had finally returned to stay.
