Chapter 11

Panic consumed the grand ballroom as corporate executives fled toward the exits and reporters swarmed the base of the stage like a pack of wolves. Clara stood paralyzed behind the podium, her breath coming in shallow, ragged gasps as the massive LED screen continued to cycle through unassailable evidence of her premeditated crime. She watched the dark silhouette at the back of the room detach itself from the shadows and begin walking slowly down the center aisle, parting the chaotic crowd with an eerie, effortless grace.
As Selena stepped into the harsh glare of the stage lights, the murmurs among the remaining guests died down into a stunned, breathless silence. The influencer community, having watched her memorial services just days prior, stared at her in sheer disbelief. Her long pink hair was tied back tightly, her dark coat hung straight against her frame, and her eyes bore into Clara with an intensity that commanded the entire room’s attention.
Clara gripped the edge of the wooden podium so tightly her knuckles turned translucent. "No... that's impossible," Clara whispered, her voice trembling audibly through the open microphone. "You fell... I watched you fall through the glass. You’re dead. You’re supposed to be at the bottom of the ravine."
Selena stopped at the base of the elevated stage, looking up at her former friend with a chillingly calm composure. She did not raise her voice, nor did she exhibit any trace of anger or theatrical outrage. Her restrained demeanor carried a far more terrifying weight than any screaming match could ever achieve.
"Gravity is only a rule for those who stay grounded, Clara," Selena said clearly, her voice projecting effortlessly across the silent ballroom. "You thought a wooden mallet and a shattered glass bridge could erase the truth. You thought stealing my digital empire would secure your legacy. But betrayal leaves a permanent stain that no amount of corporate PR can ever wash away."
Clara stumbled away from the podium, shaking her head frantically as the reality of her situation closed in around her. Sirens began wailing in the distance outside the luxury hotel—local law enforcement, alerted automatically by the live-streamed data override and calls from frantic investors inside the ballroom, were rapidly approaching the venue.

"I built this with you! You took all the credit!" Clara screamed suddenly, losing her composure as the pressure finally cracked her polished exterior. She lunged toward the edge of the stage, her face twisted in desperate rage. "You were always the favorite! Everyone looked at you, everyone praised you while I did the real work in the background! You deserved to fall!"
The audio feed broadcasted Clara’s desperate confession to the millions watching the live stream across the globe, sealing her fate beyond any legal defense or corporate spin. Selena did not flinch or step back. She simply tilted her head, maintaining her steady, unblinking gaze as the heavy double doors at the entrance of the ballroom burst open and uniform police officers flooded into the room, their hands resting on their utility belts as they moved purposefully toward the stage.
