Passing the Torch

Arthur Sterling’s health began to decline as winter approached.

In his final days at the lakeside home, he was surrounded not by board members or financial advisors, but by the warmth of family. Elena sat by his bedside every evening, reading him his favorite classics, while little Maya drew colorful pictures of birds and houses that were taped across the walls.

"You did well, Elena," Arthur whispered one evening, his hand resting weakly over hers. "I spent my life collecting wealth, thinking it was legacy. But legacy is not what you leave behind in a vault. It’s what you leave behind in people’s hearts."

"You gave me a shelter when I had nowhere to go," Elena said, kissing his fragile knuckles. "You gave me back my belief in family."

"No," Arthur smiled, closing his eyes peacefully as the rain outside turned to gentle snow. "You gave that back to me."
