The Encounter

Later that evening, after the crowds had thinned and Maya had fallen asleep in Martha’s arms, Elena walked out to the riverside terrace to catch the cool night breeze.

In the shadows near the garden gate, a man stood quietly, wearing the uniform of a delivery driver.

It was Julian.

He had taken an honest job at a local logistics warehouse, slowly paying off his debts and learning the value of hard work away from the shadow of his former name.

"I didn't come to disturb you," Julian said softly, keeping his distance. "I just wanted to see what you built."

Elena did not run, nor did she call security. She walked toward the railing, looking at him across the soft amber light of the lanterns.

"You look tired, Julian," she said.

"I am," he admitted with a faint, humble smile. "For the first time in my life, I work ten hours a day. And strangely... I sleep better than I ever did in that mansion."
