Chapter 15 - A New Dawn

Julian followed Lucy’s gaze toward the dark, recessed corner of the warehouse wall where an old metal wall safe was embedded into the concrete.

"What is that?" Julian asked, stepping closer.

Lucy walked over, pressing a small hidden button on the side of the safe that she had noticed earlier during her captivity.

The small metal door popped open automatically, revealing a single, thick manila envelope labeled in his father’s handwriting: For Olivia and Lucy.

Julian reached inside, pulled out the envelope, and handed it directly to the young girl.

Lucy’s hands trembled slightly as she opened it, pulling out a legal deed and a certified letter bearing the official seal of the Vance Foundation.

"What does it say?" Julian asked gently.

"It’s the deed to my mother’s childhood home," Lucy whispered, tears finally welling in her eyes—not of sorrow, but of absolute closure. "And a scholarship fund set up by your father to make things right before he died."

Julian smiled softly, feeling a profound sense of peace settle over him for the first time in his life. The dark legacy of deceit, corporate theft, and betrayal had finally been dragged into the light and dismantled piece by piece.

The rain outside had finally stopped, and through the broken windows of the warehouse, the first golden rays of dawn began to break across the dark ocean horizon.

Julian extended his hand, and Lucy took it without hesitation, walking side-by-side out of the warehouse and into the bright, clean light of a brand-new day.
