Chapter 2 - Total Blackout Across the Financial Empire

The sudden darkness consumed the horizon in an eerie, synchronized wave. One by one, the towering monoliths bearing the Sterling Logistics logo flickered and died, plunging entire city blocks into pitch-black shadow.
Elinor stared at her shattered glass, her chest heaving as panic clawed its way up her throat. "What did you do?" she whispered, her voice cracking for the first time. "What the hell did you just do?"
Elena stood up slowly, keeping Leo shielded against her chest. Her dark blue dress was ruined, but her posture was that of a queen reclaiming her throne. "I didn't destroy your empire, Elinor. I simply stopped funding your oxygen. Every server housing your global logistics network has just been encrypted and locked. Your offshore accounts are currently redirecting into federal escrow."
Elinor lunged forward, her diamond bracelets clinking sharply. "You're bluffing! You're just a compliance auditor who got too greedy! The board will override any emergency protocol within seconds!"
"Which board?" Elena countered smoothly, taking a step backward toward the heavy steel exit door. "The one currently being zip-tied by federal marshals in the boardroom downstairs?"
Elinor froze, her manicured nails digging into her palms. "You... you went to the feds?"
"I gave them the ledger," Elena said quietly, her eyes dark with unshed tears. "Every shell company, every bribe, every illegal cargo manifest you used to crush my husband's company—and silence him permanently."
Leo whimpered, clinging tighter to his mother's neck. "Mommy, I want to go home. It's too cold here."
"We're going home, baby," Elena murmured, her voice softening instantly before hardening again as she looked at Elinor. "Your golden cage is crumbling, Elinor. Enjoy the view while it lasts."
Elena turned sharply on her heel and strode toward the stairwell, her bruised face held high.
Elinor watched her go, paralyzed by a terrifying realization. She reached into her pocket to call her head of security, but the screen flashed a single, blood-red word: TERMINATED.
Suddenly, the heavy rooftop door blew open with a deafening crash, and the sound of heavy tactical boots echoed up the stairs.
