Chapter 13: The Wedding

Spring arrived at the Sterling estate, bringing with it an explosion of green grass, blooming cherry blossoms, and warm afternoon breezes. The estate, once known for its cold, somber galas, was decorated for a very different kind of celebration.
White ribbons fluttered from the marble pillars, and music filled the open air. The wedding was an intimate ceremony held in the estate's central garden—no press, no corporate politics, just true friends, loyal staff, and family.
Leo stood proudly beside Ethan at the altar, looking sharp in a mini tuxedo that matched his father's. He took his duty as the ring bearer very seriously, holding the velvet pillow with absolute precision.
"Nervous, chief?" Ethan whispered down to his son.
"Nope," Leo whispered back, adjusting his bow tie. "You look cool, Daddy."
Ethan smiled, turning his gaze toward the end of the aisle as the wedding march began to play.
Sarah appeared, walking down the stone path on the arm of Detective Rita Vance, who had become a close family friend. Sarah looked breathtaking in an elegant, simple A-line lace gown, her hair styled in soft waves with white blossoms woven into it. She carried a bouquet of fresh white roses—the very flowers that had once been smashed on the floor, now restored as a symbol of beauty and new beginnings.
When Sarah reached the altar, Ethan took her hand, his eyes filled with tears of joy.
"You are the most beautiful woman in the world," Ethan whispered softly.
"And you are my hero," Sarah replied, her voice trembling with emotion.
The officiant spoke words of love, resilience, and the sacred bond of family. When it came time for the vows, Ethan spoke from his heart, without notes.
"Sarah, seven years ago, I was lost in a world of business and obligation," Ethan said, holding both of her hands. "You showed me what true strength looks like. You brought light into my dark house and gave me the greatest gift of my life: our son. I promise to stand by you, to honor you, and to love you through every storm and every sunshine."
Sarah wiped a tear from her cheek and smiled. "Ethan, when I was at my lowest, I held onto the memory of your kindness. You fought for us when no one else would. You gave Leo a father, and you gave me a home. I promise to love you, support you, and stand beside you for all the days of my life."

"I now pronounce you husband and wife," the officiant declared. "You may kiss the bride."
Ethan dipped Sarah back and kissed her deeply as the guests burst into warm applause. Leo cheered loudly, tossing petals into the air, his laughter ringing out like music through the gardens.
