Chapter 15 - Dawn of Truth

The morning sun broke gently over the sprawling estate, casting a warm, golden light through the broken windows of the private study where the American flag still hung with a single, symbolic tear through its stripes.
Elena stood by the front entrance, watching as federal agents escorted Julian and Marcus Vance out of the house in handcuffs, their political empire reduced to a smoking ruin of federal indictments, leaked audio files, and unsealed adoption records. The multi-million-dollar dynasty had crumbled overnight, destroyed not by outside enemies, but by the rot of its own corruption and the undeniable power of truth.
Clara walked slowly down the stairs, wearing a simple, unpretentious beige trench coat instead of her usual sharp burgundy pantsuit. She carried the baby securely in her arms, her face looking tired, but remarkably lighter—free from the suffocating burden of the lies she had lived behind for years.
"The federal prosecutors confirmed that the adoption fraud has been officially nullified," Clara said softly as she approached Elena near the doorway. "The baby's custody has been legally transferred to a verified trust managed by his biological relatives. He's safe."
Elena nodded, slipping her notepad back into her bag. "And your legal team?"
"I’m cooperating fully with the state attorney general," Clara replied, offering a faint, genuine smile. "I’ll likely face probation for my initial compliance in the cover-up, but I’d rather spend a year in court telling the absolute truth than another single minute living a lie."

Elena extended her hand. Clara shook it firmly, a silent bond of mutual respect forged through the fires of a dangerous night.
As Elena stepped out through the front doors into the crisp morning air, she took a deep breath of freedom. Behind her, the grand estate doors closed for the final time, sealing away the shadows of the past and leaving behind a world where the truth, no matter how painful, had finally reclaimed its rightful place in the light.
