Chapter 10

The cavernous maritime warehouse erupted into absolute chaos. Bright tactical flashlights cut through the heavy shadows, casting blinding beams of white light across the towering stacks of server rigs and concrete pillars. Armed federal agents and local police officers poured down the metal stairwell in a disciplined, synchronized wave, their weapons raised and trained directly on Marcus Thorne and his armed operatives.
"Drop your weapons! Drop them right now and put your hands on your head!" Detective Sarah Jenkins shouted, leading the tactical entry team with her service pistol drawn and steady.
Marcus froze, his hand hovering inches from Elena’s face. For a split second, calculation flashed in his eyes as he weighed the option of drawing a concealed firearm from his jacket. But looking around and seeing half a dozen laser sights painting his chest, he slowly raised his hands, offering a tight, venomous smile of absolute defeat.
"Well, Detective Jenkins," Marcus said smoothly, lowering his arms in slow motion as he stepped away from the sofa. "You certainly know how to crash a private meeting."
"Marcus Thorne, you're under arrest for kidnapping, wire fraud, extortion, and corporate embezzlement," Sarah announced firmly, closing the distance between them with professional precision. She motioned to two officers flanking her. "Cuff him and read him his rights."
While Marcus was being aggressively subdued and zip-tied against a concrete pillar, Sarah rushed past the server racks toward the worn leather sofa where Elena lay trapped. Sarah knelt beside the young woman, immediately noticing the pale complexion, the bandaged ribs, and the lingering effects of the chemical sedative.
"Elena Vance?" Sarah asked gently, sliding her tactical jacket off her shoulders and draping it carefully over Elena's shivering frame. "Are you alright? I'm Detective Sarah Jenkins. You're safe now."
Elena let out a long, shuddering breath, the immense weight of terror finally lifting from her chest. Tears of relief welled up in her eyes. "Thank God... you got my automated beacon."
"Your data packet reached my terminal just in time," Sarah reassured her, gently squeezing her shoulder. "We tracked the vehicle's secondary telemetry right to this warehouse. Can you stand?"
"I think so," Elena whispered, wincing as she tried to sit up with Sarah's assistance. "My ribs... they're badly bruised, but I'm okay."

Suddenly, a loud metallic clatter echoed from the far side of the basement. One of Marcus’s masked operatives had managed to slip away during the initial breach, diving behind a towering stack of wooden crates near the loading dock. Before any of the officers could react, the operative pulled a small electronic detonator from his pocket and slammed his thumb down onto the flashing red button.
"Look out! The servers are rigged!" Elena screamed, her eyes widening in sheer horror as a series of small explosive charges strapped to the base of the server racks began to spark and smoke.
