Chapter 13: Homecoming

The judge ruled in favor of Jax, granting him full legal guardianship. As they walked out of the courthouse, the afternoon sun broke through the clouds, warm and bright.
They drove to a small cemetery on the edge of town. Jax, Leo, and Maya stood before Sarah’s headstone, carrying a bouquet of fresh white lilies.

Jax laid the flowers down gently. ""I found them, Sarah,"" he whispered to the wind. ""I promise you, on my life, they will never be cold or hungry again.""
