The courtroom was tense. Clara’s lawyer brought up Jax’s distant, rebellious youth, painting him as a dangerous stranger who abandoned his family.
When Jax took the witness stand, the judge looked at him sternly. ""Mr. Vance, why should this court believe you are capable of raising these children after being absent for eight years?""
Jax looked past the lawyers straight at the judge. ""Because eight years ago, I was running away from who I was. But when my son placed that photo on the counter, he saved my life. I don't ask for forgiveness for my past, but I will give my entire future to protect them.""
