Chapter 2 - The Arrival of the Titan

The massive wooden doors swung fully open to reveal Arthur Vance, the patriarch and founder of the global conglomerate, flanked by four towering security guards in dark suits. The heavy silence in the ballroom grew suffocating. Julian’s face drained of all color, his mouth opening and closing soundlessly as he stared at his grandfather walking past the terrified crowd straight toward Elena.

Julian stumbled backward, knocking against a small cocktail table that sent crystal glasses shattering onto the floor.

“Called, weld? Why is he walking to her?” Julian stammered, his voice cracking with sudden, desperate terror as the magnitude of his mistake began to dawn on him.

Arthur ignored his grandson entirely. He stopped two paces from Elena, removed his velvet-lined fedora, and bowed his head with profound, undeniable respect.

“The board has ratified your emergency directive, Madam Chairman,” Arthur said, his voice carrying clearly across the silent room.

Elena slid the small gold ring back onto her finger, right beside a platinum band encrusted with rare pink diamonds that dwarfed any jewelry in the room. She looked at Julian, whose hands were now trembling uncontrollably.

“You built your entire career on a lie, Julian,” Elena said quietly. “You thought marrying the mysterious orphan girl was your greatest achievement. You never bothered to look at my maiden name.”

Clara stepped back, her champagne flute slipping from her fingers and shattering at her feet, the golden liquid pooling around the hem of her red gown. The guests began to whisper frantically among themselves, smartphones flashing in the dim corners of the room as footage of the confrontation streamed live across social media platforms worldwide.

Julian lunged forward, his desperation overriding his shock. “Grandfather, tell her! She’s crazy! She’s destroying the family legacy!”

Arthur raised a single, weathered hand, and the security guards stepped forward, blocking Julian’s path with immovable precision.

“The only thing being destroyed tonight, Julian,” Arthur said coldly, “is the illusion that you ever earned a single dime of what you possess.”

Elena turned her back on her husband, signaling to Thaddeus via a discreet nod that the first phase of the corporate restructuring was complete. As she prepared to walk out of the ballroom on the arm of the grandfather who had secretly raised her, a security guard handed Julian a single manila envelope containing his immediate eviction notice.
