CHAPTER 10: The Live Wire

Grace reached into her pocket and pulled out the burner phone. The screen was illuminated. The line was active—connected directly to Elena Ramos’s broadcast studio control room.
"What is that?" Nathan’s smirk evaporated.
"The public airwaves," Grace said. "Elena has been patching this audio directly into the live morning news broadcast for the past three minutes. You just confessed to Clara's murder, the Vanguard network, and your plan to execute me."
Nathan’s face turned an ashen shade of gray. "You're bluffing."
Through the vault lobby intercom, alarms began to sound. Shouted orders echoed down the stairwell, but they weren't tactical officers answering to Marcus. A team of federal agents wearing blue jackets emblazoned with *FBI* surged through the upper security gates, their weapons drawn.
Behind the glass, Nathan turned around in panic, reaching for the sidearm hidden in his coat.
"Drop the weapon! Hands where we can see them!" the federal team leader bellowed.
Nathan looked back at Grace through the glass. For the first time in their marriage, Grace saw him for what he truly was: not a mastermind, not a predator, but a small, terrified coward whose illusions had shattered under the light of truth.

Nathan slowly dropped his gun onto the polished tile and fell to his knees as the agents pinned him to the floor.
