Chapter 7: The Legal Battle Begins

The legal maneuvers commenced with ruthless efficiency on a crisp Tuesday morning. Victor’s lead attorney, a formidable woman named Sarah Jenkins, laid out mountains of documented evidence across the glass conference table in Victor’s downtown office. Alongside the security camera footage from the hallway, Sarah had compiled financial records, witness statements from former domestic staff who had been silenced by non-disclosure agreements, and psychological evaluations detailing Elena’s narcissistic traits. Victor listened intently, adjusting his black suit jacket as he reviewed the custody briefs. "Elena’s defense team is going to argue that the footage was taken out of context and that she was merely disciplining a defiant child," Sarah explained, pointing a polished fingernail at a legal paragraph. "They will also lean heavily on her social standing and charitable contributions to paint her as a misunderstood victim of an aggressive corporate husband." Victor’s expression hardened. "Let them try. The video speaks for itself, and the financial audits will show how she funneled household funds into private accounts for her own personal luxuries while neglecting basic childcare needs." Sarah nodded approvingly. "We are also filing a restraining order that will keep her at least five hundred yards away from both you and Ethan permanently. The arraignment is scheduled for Thursday morning at the county courthouse. You won’t need to attend the initial hearing, but I advise staying completely away from her media circus." Victor exhaled slowly, feeling a profound sense of liberation. The man who had once been trapped in a gilded cage of appearances was finally taking control of his destiny. He knew that the public trial would be brutal and that Elena would unleash every ounce of her venom in a desperate bid to salvage her reputation and secure a massive financial settlement, but he was no longer afraid. He had truth on his side, and more importantly, he had his son.
