Chapter 14 - The Final Stand

"Drop the gun!" Clara’s voice pierced the quiet night air, sharp, echoing off the towering steel shipping containers with a desperate intensity that made every tactical operative spin around in shock.

Viktor paused, lowering the barrel of his silver-plated pistol just a fraction as he turned his head to look down the alleyway. A cruel, amused smirk spread across his face as he spotted Clara standing alone, holding a heavy iron wrench with trembling hands.

"Well, well," Viktor drawled, his eyes gleaming with malicious delight. "The devoted wife steps out of the shadows to join the execution. How wonderfully poetic."

Julian didn't look back at her; instead, his dark eyes remained locked on his brother, a sudden, explosive surge of adrenaline breaking through his calm facade. "Clara, get back in the car! This isn't your fight!"

"I am not hiding anymore, Julian!" Clara shouted, taking two brave, deliberate steps forward, her grip tightening on the iron tool. "We either walk out of here together, or none of us leave!"

Viktor chuckled darkly, raising his pistol back toward Julian’s chest. "Touching sentiment, truly. But unfortunately, family reunions aren't my specialty."

Before Viktor could squeeze the trigger, a sudden, blinding flash of brilliant red and blue light erupted from the entrance of the shipping yard, instantly washing over the dark concrete docks. The screaming wail of a dozen approaching federal police cruisers shattered the silence of the night, their sirens echoing off the massive industrial cranes.

Simultaneously, a booming, amplified voice echoed across the loudspeakers from the gate: "Federal law enforcement! Drop your weapons and put your hands behind your head! The area is completely surrounded!"

Panic rippled instantly through the tactical operatives. The operatives began looking around frantically, their disciplined formation fracturing under the sudden, overwhelming tactical disadvantage.

"It's a trap!" one of the mercenaries shouted over the rising wail of sirens.

Viktor’s face twisted into a mask of pure fury. He abandoned his calm demeanor, his eyes darting from the flashing lights at the gate back to Julian. "You son of a bitch. You traded the data for immunity."

"I traded nothing," Julian said quietly, a cold, hard smile touching his lips. "I just waited for the right moment to burn your entire empire to the ash it belongs in."

Before Viktor could raise his pistol to fire in blind rage, Julian lunged forward with explosive, lightning-fast violence, slamming his fist directly into his brother’s jaw and sending the silver-plated pistol clattering across the concrete.

As federal agents in tactical gear swarmed down the alleyway from all directions, shouting orders and securing the perimeter, a deafening explosion suddenly rocked the far side of the shipping yard, tearing a massive hole in the dock wall and plunging the entire area into sudden, terrifying chaos.
