Chapter 4 - The Unmasking

The heavy silence in the subterranean archive was broken only by the erratic humming of the overhead fluorescent light. Arthur stood fully upright, towering over the terrified corporate lawyers who scrambled backward from their chairs in sheer disbelief. He unzipped his tan jacket completely, letting it slide off his shoulders and drop heavily to the concrete floor, revealing the immaculate, bespoke black suit underneath.
Julian pressed his back against the mahogany table, his chest heaving as he stared from the standing Arthur to the towering figure of Rocco standing in the doorway.
"No," Julian muttered, shaking his head violently in denial. "No, this is a trick. A setup. The doctors said your spine was crushed in the Alps accident! You haven't walked in five years!"
Rocco stepped further into the room, his heavy boots making a slow, deliberate sound against the concrete. He reached up and casually tossed a thick leather-bound ledger onto the center of the table, right between the trembling lawyers.
"Medical records can be easily falsified when you own the clinic, Julian," Rocco said, his voice smooth and cold as river ice. "Just like corporate signatures can be forged when you control the executive stamp. Arthur played the invalid in the lobby to see who would immediately trample on a defenseless child just to climb one rung higher on the corporate ladder. And you, my ambitious nephew, won first prize."
Julian swallowed hard, his throat dry as sandpaper. He tried to straighten his tie, but his fingers shook uncontrollably.
"I saved this company from bankruptcy while you both hid in the shadows!" Julian shouted, his voice cracking with desperation. "The board voted! The transition is legal!"
Arthur walked slowly around the table, his stride completely steady, his eyes fixed on Julian with unblinking intensity.
"The board consists of three men who take your bribes and two cowards who sign whatever you put in front of them," Arthur said quietly, stopping just an arm's length away from the frantic concierge. "They don't own the Vance estate, Julian. Rocco and I own eighty-two percent of the voting stock. The transfer documents you drafted today didn't merge the company—they legally transferred all of your personal assets into a frozen trust under federal investigation for embezzlement."
Julian’s eyes widened in sheer terror. He looked down at the documents on the table, finally noticing the subtle watermark on the paper—not the seal of the Grand Meridian, but the official crest of the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

"You set me up," Julian whispered, the color completely draining from his face. "The entire lobby scene... the girl..."
