Chapter 14: The Finished Canvas**

Late that night, after the gallery guests had departed and the street outside fell quiet under a gentle autumn rain, Julian and Mia sat together in the second-floor studio.
On the main easel rested the unfinished canvas Elena had started years ago—the father and daughter standing near the sea.
Julian dipped his brush into a palette of warm amber and ocean blue. He handed a smaller brush to Mia. "Ready?"
"Ready," she said.
Together, stroke by stroke, they filled in the blank horizon. They painted the warmth of a setting sun casting golden light across the water, illuminating the path beneath the two figures' feet. They painted away the shadows, replacing fear with certainty and regret with shared presence.
When they finished, Mia signed her mother's name in the bottom left corner, and Julian signed his beside it.
"It's whole now," Mia whispered, resting her head against his arm.

"Yes, it is," Julian agreed, wrapping his arm around her shoulders.
