Chapter 4: The Boardroom Ambush**

Three days later, Elena stepped into the executive boardroom wearing a tailored, modest navy pantsuit. Julian stood at the head of the conference table, introducing her to the twelve board members of the Vance Foundation.
The atmosphere in the room was frosty. Most board members were lifelong allies of Clara’s wealthy dynasty, looking at Elena as if she were dirt dragged across a pristine white carpet.
"A waitress?" snorted Arthur Sterling, the senior legal counsel. "Julian, you cannot seriously expect us to grant fiduciary authority to someone whose highest qualification is carrying champagne flutes without spilling them."
"Miss Cruz holds a Bachelor’s degree in Forensic Accounting from Baruch College," Julian answered calmly, not flinching. "She finished top of her class while working fifty hours a week to support her family. Her qualifications far exceed those of board members who inherited their seats."
Elena stepped forward, placing a USB drive onto the digital terminal. The main projector illuminated a detailed audit trail.
"Over the past seventy-two hours, with Mr. Vance's authorization, I reviewed the foundation’s ledger from 2005 to 2010," Elena spoke clearly, her voice devoid of hesitation. "During this period, twelve million dollars earmarked for employee medical pensions were funneled into shell companies registered in the Cayman Islands—all signed off by Mr. Sterling's legal firm."
The room plunged into dead silence. Sterling’s face drained of color as other board members shifted uncomfortably in their seats.

"I am not here to serve drinks," Elena stated firmly. "I am here to audit every single dollar stolen from working families. If anyone has an objection, the federal oversight committee is waiting in the lobby."
