Chapter 4 - The Expulsion

The two security guards moved with synchronized precision, stepping into the private executive suite and positioning themselves on either side of Julian. The metallic sheen of their belt buckles caught the dim light of the server racks, a stark reminder of corporate authority shifting in real-time. Julian did not look back at them. He kept his eyes locked on his father, whose face remained a mask of stern, uncompromising resolve. The audacity of being removed from his own office by his own security protocols was a bitter pill, but Julian swallowed it without a visible flinch.
“This is a procedural violation,” Julian said, his voice dropping into a low, controlled register that betrayed none of the frantic calculations racing through his mind. “You cannot unilaterally revoke a sitting CEO’s credentials without a quorum vote from the board of directors.”
Arthur leaned back in the leather executive chair, resting his hands lightly on the armrests. The grey suit he wore seemed heavier now, radiating an aura of untouchable matriarchal and patriarchal dominance that Julian had foolishly underestimated.
“The quorum was met twenty minutes ago in the private lounge downstairs,” Arthur replied smoothly, tapping a stack of signed documents on the desk. “Seventeen members signed the emergency motion. Your tenure as Chief Executive Officer ended the moment the elevator doors opened tonight, Julian.”
Rebecca stepped forward, her black slip dress swaying with an effortless, hypnotic grace. She stopped just inches from Julian, looking up into his intense, unyielding eyes with a quiet triumph that she didn't bother to hide.
“You forgot that loyalty cannot be bought with corporate bonuses, Julian,” Rebecca said softly, her breath warm against the chilling air of the room. “You built your entire empire on the assumption that everyone has a price. You were wrong.”
Julian’s jaw tightened. A single muscle ticked near his right cheek, the only physical betrayal of his boiling rage. He glanced briefly at the guards, then back at Rebecca, recognizing that any physical resistance would only play into their hands and permanently ruin his reputation in the financial sector.
“Enjoy your temporary victory,” Julian whispered, his voice dangerously low as he stepped past the guards toward the door. “The foundation of this company is rotten, and when it collapses, you’ll be standing right where I left you.”

With that, Julian squared his shoulders, adjusted his black bow tie with a flick of his fingers, and walked out of the office into the dimly lit hallway. The heavy oak doors slammed shut behind him with a dull, resonant thud, sealing his fate inside the very building he had orchestrated to rule. He walked down the corridor toward the private elevator, his mind already mapping out his next move. As the elevator chime echoed through the silent floor, the digital display flickered erratically, shifting from floor penthouse down to sub-level three.
