Chapter 6: Shadows of the Estate**

With Alana removed from the main residence, an eerie quiet descended upon the Thorne estate. But wealth rarely yields without a fight.

Julian sat in his dimly lit library, reviewing financial records late into the night. What he found made his stomach churn. Over the past three years, Alana and Walter had embezzled tens of millions from the family's charitable foundations, routing the funds through offshore shell companies.

Claire had discovered this paper trail years ago. Her sudden disappearance was not an act of defiance against her brother; it had been an escape from corporate predators who had threatened her life.

"She ran to protect me," Julian whispered to the empty room, resting his forehead on his open palms. "And I thought she was selfish."

A quiet tap sounded at the door. Mrs. Gable, the elderly housekeeper who had served the Thorne family for three decades, entered carrying a warm mug of chamomile tea.

"Mr. Julian," Mrs. Gable said softly. "The little one has finally fallen asleep. But you must be careful. Walter has not left the premises. He is meeting with the private security team at the perimeter."

Julian stood abruptly. "He no longer has authority here."
