Chapter 15: The Whole Circle

Two years after the night at Telfair Manor, the tidal bluff at *The Driftwood Sanctuary* on Tybee Island was alive with music, children's laughter, and the rich aroma of an outdoor coastal feast.

Long wooden harvest tables—built by Thomas from reclaimed native heart pine—stretched beneath the live oaks, covered with white linen cloths, platters of grilled local redfish, sweet corn, fresh garden salads, and pitchers of homemade iced mint tea.

Over forty people were gathered: digital forensic investigators from the county, maritime workers from the boatyard, Assistant U.S. Attorney Sarah Jenkins, and neighbors from across the island.

Mia, now eight years old and thriving as an accomplished junior sailor and artist, was running through the clover grass with her golden retriever, her laughter ringing pure and fearless across the salt marsh.

Thomas Mercer stood at the outdoor grill, wearing a clean linen shirt and work trousers, laughing with Marcus as they turned sweet corn over the hickory embers.

Elena stood on the porch steps, wearing a flowing, simple white linen sundress, her dark hair blowing freely in the warm ocean breeze.

Thomas looked up from the grill, his slate-grey eyes meeting hers with deep, unreserved reverence and unconditional love.

He walked up the wooden steps, wiped his hands on a clean towel, and gently took Elena’s hand in his warm, strong palm.

""Look at our home, Elena,"" Thomas whispered softly, looking out over the laughing crowd, the thriving garden, and the sparkling blue waters of the Atlantic.

Mia came running up the steps, throwing her arms around both of their waists, her brass anchor charm glinting like pure sunlight against her chest.

""Mommy! Thomas! Look at the clouds! They look like white sails!"" Mia shouted with pure, unfettered wonder.

Elena knelt down, wrapping her arms around her daughter and Thomas, resting her cheek against Mia’s hair, her heart full, tranquil, and unbroken.

There were no screaming voices here. There were no false vows, no hidden safes, no shadows in the dark.

There was only an open sea, an unshakeable home, and a family anchored forever in the rich, radiant, and unbreakable light of truth and love.
