CHAPTER 9: Shadows of Revenge

Despite the legal victory, the battle for Lily’s safety was far from over.

A week after the court ruling, Julian returned to his office late at night to review the financial records of the family trust. Something didn't add up. Millions of dollars had been secretly funneled out of Clara’s rightful inheritance long before she passed away.

As he flipped through the bank statements, his phone rang. It was an unlisted number.

""Julian,"" a cold voice spoke through the speaker. It was Richard.

""You lost in court, Richard,"" Julian said coldly, leaning back in his chair. ""Leave us alone.""

""You think a court paper makes you safe?"" Richard chuckled darkly. ""That little girl holds twenty percent of the voting shares in Chen Enterprises through her mother’s trust. Do you really think the board will let a child dictate the future of a multi-billion-dollar corporation?""

""She is a child! She doesn't care about your corporate games!"" Julian shouted, standing up from his desk.

""Then sell her shares to me,"" Richard demanded, his tone dropping all warmth. ""Sign over her voting rights by Friday, or I will release documents showing your father illegally hid assets abroad. It will ruin your reputation and destroy everything you’ve built.""

Julian took a slow, steady breath. ""My sister’s legacy is not for sale."" He hung up the phone.
