Chapter 14: The Bakery by the River**

One year later.
The morning sun cast a warm golden glow over a quiet riverside street in the revitalized district of the city. A small, bustling bakery stood at the corner, smelling of freshly baked cinnamon bread, warm sourdough, and roasted coffee.
Above the entrance, a simple wooden sign hung proudly: *The Foundation Bakery*.
Inside, Sarah stood behind the counter, laughing as she handed a fresh pastry to an elderly woman from the neighborhood. In the corner booth, Damian was reviewing sketches with a group of young architecture students from the local public high school, offering mentorship and scholarships directly from the Vance Foundation.
Leo burst through the front door, wearing his school backpack and carrying an art project shaped like a bridge.
“Dad! Look! It held twenty pounds of weight before breaking!” Leo shouted excitedly, running to the booth.
Damian caught the boy, laughing as he inspected the popsicle-stick structure. “That’s better than my first bridge design in college, Leo. You’re already beating me.”

“Mom helped with the glue!” Leo said proudly, running behind the counter to hug Sarah.
