Chapter 15 - The Dawn of a New Legacy

The heavy titanium blast door swung open with a hollow groan, letting a rush of hot air and acrid smoke billow out into the corridor. Viktor snarled, his thumb tightening on the detonator trigger, but before he could press it down, Miller moved with blinding speed, lunging forward and tackling Viktor hard to the concrete floor.

The detonator flew from Viktor’s hand, skittering across the smooth tiles and coming to a stop near Eleanor’s polished leather shoe. Eleanor calmly placed the rubber tip of her cane directly over the button, pinning it firmly to the floor.

Miller secured the heavy steel cuffs around Viktor’s wrists, hauling the struggling fixer to his feet and shoving him against the smoking server racks.

Mei-Ling walked slowly into the ruined server room, stepping over shattered glass and twisted metal. She stopped in front of the master terminal console. Although the primary physical drives were severely damaged, the secondary optical backup drive was still blinking with a steady green light on the lower rack.

Mei-Ling tapped the screen three times, locking down the offshore transfer accounts and routing every cent of embezzled capital directly back into the corporate foundation funds. As the transaction completion banner flashed green across the display, the heavy tension in the room finally dissolved.

Three days later, the morning sun broke brightly over the Seattle skyline, casting golden light across the pristine marble lobby of the Vanguard Global Tower.

Mei-Ling stood by the floor-to-ceiling windows, wearing a custom-tailored emerald green suit that matched Eleanor’s signature style. Her dark hair was neatly styled, and the heavy jade pendant rested proudly against her chest, catching the morning light and flashing brilliant green and diamond fire.

Near the elevator bank, a young woman in a beige uniform with brown trim was kneeling by the planters, quietly picking up a stray plastic bottle left behind by a careless executive.

Mei-Ling walked over, her heels clicking softly against the marble floor. She stopped beside the kneeling woman, reached down, and gently touched the worker's shoulder.

The young woman looked up, startled and defensive, expecting a reprimand from management.

Mei-Ling smiled warmly, extending a hand to help her up. "Take a break," Mei-Ling said softly, her eyes shining with quiet strength and hard-earned wisdom. "Let's
