Arthur didn't hesitate. He grabbed the silver key and scooped Laura up into his arms. ""Samuel,"" he barked at his chief security officer. ""Keep everyone in this room locked down. Call the federal authorities. No one leaves.""
""Yes, Sir,"" Samuel replied, drawing his sidearm to secure the room.
Arthur carried Laura through the private corridors toward his garage. Rain poured relentlessly as they boarded his armored SUV. The GPS coordinate encoded on the back of the silver key pointed to an abandoned industrial site thirty miles north—a place disguised as a decommissioned timber mill.

Arthur looked at the young girl who carried his daughter's face and determination. He reached over and gently stroked her hair. ""I promised you that no one is taking you anywhere, Laura. And I promise you now: we are bringing your mother home.""
