Chapter 3: The Ledger of Lies

Arthur took the weathered journal. Its pages were filled with Eleanor’s familiar, elegant handwriting. As he flipped through the entries, his stern expression melted into pure horror.

Eleanor hadn't abandoned the family. She had discovered an illegal offshore laundering ring orchestrated right under Arthur’s nose. She was silkened away, hidden in a remote facility to keep the secret buried.

""Marcus,"" Arthur said quietly, his voice dangerously calm. ""Where is my daughter?""

Marcus panicked. He reached into his jacket, but before he could draw a weapon, two guards pinned him to the mahogany table. A silver key slipped from Marcus's pocket, clattering against the polished floor.

""You ruined everything, Arthur!"" Marcus snarled, his composure completely shattered. ""You were too soft! You wouldn't let us expand into the real money! Eleanor found out, and she had to be silenced!""

""Where is she?"" Arthur demanded, stepping forward as Laura clung to his coat tail.

""Find her yourself,"" Marcus spat. ""You have less than three hours before the remote facility's security system wipes everything—including the basement.""
