Chapter 13: The Turning Point

Before Marcus could respond, the heavy wooden doors at the back of the courtroom swung open. A paralegal rushed down the center aisle, breathless and clutching a freshly printed digital tablet, sliding it urgently across the wooden table directly into Marcus’s hands.
Marcus glanced down at the screen, and his eyes widened in genuine astonishment. A slow, triumphant smile crept across his professional facade. He looked up at Judge Harrison with renewed confidence.
"Your Honor, request permission to approach the bench with newly verified evidence that directly impacts the credibility and legal standing of the co-petitioner, Mr. Sterling," Marcus stated clearly.
Judge Harrison sighed, gesturing impatiently. "Make it brief, counselor. We don't have all day."
Marcus walked up to the bench, handing the tablet up to the judge. "Exhibit G, Your Honor. Financial wire records intercepted thirty minutes ago from a Swiss banking entity controlled by Arthur Sterling. The funds financing this entire custody litigation did not originate from personal savings, but from a direct shell corporation owned by Apex Global—Julian Vance’s primary corporate competitor."
Arthur’s calm facade instantly shattered. He stood up abruptly from the defense table, his face draining of color. "That’s a complete fabrication! Objection!"
"Sit down, Mr. Sterling," Judge Harrison commanded sharply, his eyes scanning the digital financial trails on the tablet with intense scrutiny. The judge looked up from the screen, fixing a piercing glare directly upon Arthur and Clara. "Mr. Sterling, are you or are you not receiving financial backing from a competing corporate entity to pursue this custody action?"
Clara grabbed Arthur’s arm, whispering frantically, but it was too late. The trap Julian had laid had sprung with devastating precision.
"Your Honor," Marcus continued, pressing the advantage. "This entire lawsuit is not about parental rights or the best interest of a child. It is a calculated corporate extortion plot designed to psychologically break Julian Vance and force a hostile takeover of Vance Global by using a seven-year-old boy as leverage."
The courtroom fell into a stunned, suffocating silence. Judge Harrison slowly set the tablet down, his expression hardening into absolute granite as he looked at Arthur and Clara with undisguised disgust.

"Mr. Sterling, Ms. Vance," Judge Harrison said, his voice echoing coldly through the room. "Using family law proceedings as a front for corporate espionage and extortion is a direct contempt of this court, and frankly, a criminal offense."
