Chapter 8: The Sister’s Confession

Shots rang out in the disorienting haze. Mark tackled Sterling to the floor, disarming him with swift, practiced precision. Miller and the federal agents quickly subdued the two guards before they could fire a single clear shot.
In the chaos, Victoria scrambled toward the console, grabbing the solid-state drive before the emergency power lockdown activated. Red backup lights illuminated the vault as smoke cleared from the flashbang.
Sterling was pinned to the concrete, hand-cuffed and glaring in defeat. Mark pulled him up by his collar. “Arthur Sterling, you are under arrest for corporate espionage, conspiracy to commit murder, and treason.”
Victoria clutched the drive to her chest, tears streaming down her face. She dropped to her knees beside Eleanor, who held her tightly. “I did it, Eleanor… I saved Clara’s work,” Victoria sobbed.

“You did, my brave girl,” Eleanor murmured, holding Victoria’s head against her shoulder. “You saved all of us.”
Mark walked over, handing Eleanor a handkerchief while securing the drive in an official evidence container. “The server logs in this drive contain full proof of Sterling’s extortion against you, Victoria. You’re clear. Clara made sure her files documented how you were manipulated.” Victoria wept with overwhelming relief—the weight of guilt finally lifted from her heart.
