Chapter 12: Standing Together

Following the press conference, a grand gala was hosted at the restored Vance Manor to celebrate the official launch of the new foundation. High-profile philanthropists, doctors, and community leaders gathered under the crystal chandeliers, pledging millions in supporting funds.

Victoria moved through the crowd with quiet confidence, no longer hiding in fear, but leading conversations about research initiatives and hospital partnerships. She had taken over as the Executive Director of the foundation, honoring Clara’s legacy with passion and dedication.

Mark walked over to Eleanor near the terrace doors, carrying two glasses of sparkling cider. “You built something incredible tonight, Eleanor.”

“We built it together, Mark,” Eleanor said, accepting a glass. “Clara trusted you, and now I see why. You brought us justice, but more importantly, you brought us peace.”

Mark looked out into the gardens where Lily was playing safely under the supervision of family friends. “My job usually ends when the handcuffs go on, Eleanor. But watching this family heal… it’s a rare privilege.”

Eleanor smiled, clinking her glass against his. “You are family now, Mark. Never forget that.”
