Chapter 11: The Sacred Transfer**

The paramedics rushed in, setting down heavy medical cases and preparing trauma kits, but Clara weakly held up a hand, shaking her head. She knew. Her body, already broken by years of internal lung fibrosis and illness, was letting go.
"Ellie..." Clara whispered, her hazel eyes locking onto Elena’s with piercing clarity.
"I'm here. I'm right here," Elena held Clara’s cold, trembling hand between both of hers.
With her last ounce of strength, Clara reached up to her hair. She gently unpinned the antique crystal barrette that had belonged to their grandmother and pressed it into Elena’s palm, right alongside the matching one Leo had carried.
"Raise him, Ellie," Clara whispered, a tear tracing the line of her scar into her smile. "Teach him how to play the piano like father taught us. Teach him never to hate... and tell him his mother loved him more than the sky."
"I swear to you, Clara," Elena wept, kissing her sister's pale forehead. "I will protect him with my life. He will never know cold, he will never know hunger, and he will always know how much his mother loved him. I swear on our family."
Clara looked at Leo one last time, her eyes filled with an unbearable, radiant peace. "My sweet Leo... Auntie Elena is your mommy now. Be good for her."
"I love you, Mommy," Leo sobbed into her chest.
"I love you... my brave boy..."

Clara’s hand slipped gently from Elena's grasp, resting still against the cold concrete floor. The light in her hazel eyes softened into an eternal, peaceful rest.
