The visitor was Marcus Vance—no relation to the disgraced executive, but rather the senior independent auditor who had originally flagged the suspicious capital outflows months ago before being silenced by Arthur’s internal threats. He stepped into the executive suite with cautious steps, carrying a thick leather folder secured with a brass clasp.
Evelyn rose from her chair, extending a hand in polite welcome. "Mr. Vance. Please, take a seat. I have been expecting your final report."
Marcus shook her hand firmly, a look of profound respect crossing his features. "Thank you, Mrs. Vance. I must admit, when I was warned off this case six months ago by your stepson, I feared the evidence we compiled would be buried forever. Your resilience... it's quite remarkable."
"Silence is never permanent when the truth is backed by preparation, Mr. Vance," Evelyn replied, sitting back down and gesturing for him to present his documents. "Tell me, what is the current status of the asset recovery?"
Marcus opened the leather folder, sliding a series of certified financial charts across the polished mahogany desk. "We have successfully seized and repatriated ninety-two percent of the diverted funds from the offshore accounts in the Cayman Islands and Switzerland. The remaining eight percent is currently tied up in civil forfeiture proceedings initiated by the federal government, which should be resolved in our favor by the end of the quarter."
Evelyn reviewed the figures with a critical eye, nodding in satisfaction as she verified the account balances. "And the residential estate?"
"The property titles have been formally reverted back to the original family trust, free and clear of the liens Arthur attempted to place against them," Marcus continued, adjusting his glasses. "The auxiliary accounts are stabilized, and the company’s credit rating has been upgraded following the emergency board restructuring."

Marcus smiled, visibly relieved that justice had finally triumphed over corporate corruption. As he took his leave, Evelyn walked back to the window, watching the bustling city streets below with a quiet sense of closure.
