Chapter 14: The Graduation of Hope**
Ten years passed in a blink of sunrises and shared milestones.
On a bright June morning, the auditorium of Columbia University was filled with celebratory applause.
“Please welcome our valedictorian for the Class of 2036: Leo Vance, recipient of the National Humanitarian Medal in Child Advocacy and Public Law.”
Thomas sat in the front row, silver threads now lining his dark beard, wiping away tears of overwhelming pride. Beside him sat sixteen-year-old Lily, radiant, healthy, and brilliant, clutching a bouquet of giant yellow sunflowers.
Leo walked up to the podium, looking out at the thousands of graduates and families.
“I was once a boy with muddy shoes and no future,” Leo began into the microphone, his voice resonant and commanding. “I thought the world was divided into the powerful who take, and the helpless who suffer. But I learned that the greatest power on Earth is not wealth, prestige, or status. The greatest power is the courage to speak truth when a life is on the line, and the love that refuses to let anyone be forgotten in the dark.”
