Chapter 15 - The Final Verdict

The gray sedan spun violently across the wet asphalt, the screech of shredded rubber echoing off the concrete guardrail of the highway bridge. Agent Vance fought the steering wheel with every ounce of her strength, finally bringing the smoking vehicle to a grinding halt just inches from a sheer drop into the river below. The engine hissed, thick white steam billowing out from under the crumpled hood as warning lights flashed furiously on the dashboard.
Leo scrambled across the back seat, unhurt but terrified, clinging tightly to the upholstery. Before Agent Vance could even reach for her radio, the sound of wailing sirens filled the air from both directions of the parkway.
