Chapter 10

The courtroom held its collective breath. All eyes shifted from the bench to Elena, who slowly stood up from her chair. Her composure had cracked, revealing the desperate, cornered predator beneath the polished veneer.
"Your Honor, these are malicious lies fabricated by a disgruntled former employee whom my company dismissed for gross financial misconduct," Elena said, her voice ringing clear and sharp through the cavernous room. "Mr. Vance is using his wealth and influence to intimidate witnesses and subvert the judicial process."
Judge Holloway did not blink. He picked up a heavy manila folder containing the digital backups Sarah Jenkins had submitted into evidence. He flipped through the forensic audit report compiled by Marcus’s team, his expression growing darker with every page.
"Mrs. Jenkins’s digital footprint was authenticated by federal marshals thirty minutes before this proceeding began," Judge Holloway said coldly. "Furthermore, the Zurich notary seal she referenced matches a customs declaration intercepted by federal authorities last month under your direct corporate registration number. You didn't just fabricate a probate claim, Mrs. Vance. You committed mail fraud and perjury in an attempt to manipulate an ongoing family court proceeding."
Elena’s attorney slumped back in his chair, realizing his client had lied to them just as much as she had lied to the court.
Judge Holloway slammed his gavel down with a sharp, definitive crack that made everyone in the room flinch. "The petition for emergency injunction is dismissed with prejudice. Furthermore, I am forwarding these transcripts to the United States Attorney’s office for immediate investigation into corporate fraud and perjury. This court is adjourned."
As the judge rose and retreated to his chambers, the courtroom dissolved into motion. Elena’s attorneys packed their briefcases with frantic speed, practically running out the side exit to distance themselves from their disgraced client. Elena stood alone at her table, her eyes locking onto Julian across the aisle. There was no defiance left in her gaze—only a cold, consuming hatred.
Julian didn't gloat. He didn't smile or exchange triumphant glances with Marcus. He simply turned away, walking down the center aisle where Sarah Jenkins was waiting with a hesitant expression.
"Thank you, Sarah," Julian said quietly, extending his hand. "You did the right thing."
Sarah shook his hand, letting out a long, shuddering breath. "I just want my life back, Mr. Vance."

"You’ll have it. Marcus has already arranged for your protective detail and relocation expenses. You're completely safe now."
Outside the courthouse, the afternoon sun broke through the heavy gray clouds, casting a warm, golden light across Foley Square. Julian slid into the back of his waiting sedan, leaning his head back against the leather headrest. The immediate threat to his home had been neutralized, and Elena’s corporate empire was beginning to crumble under the weight of its own corruption. But Julian knew the war for his children’s emotional well-being was not over until a permanent custody agreement was signed, sealing their safety once and for all.
