Chapter 13

With Arthur escorted out through the grand double doors in handcuffs, the heavy atmosphere in the hall began to dissipate, replaced by a stunned, respectful silence. The invited guests slowly began to murmur among themselves, realizing they had witnessed not a wedding ceremony, but a profound act of public reckoning and personal redemption.
Julian turned to Clara, taking her face gently between his hands. His eyes were shining with unshed tears of pride and deep affection. "Are you alright?" he asked, his voice tender.
"I'm more than alright," Clara whispered, leaning into his touch. "I'm free."
The wedding planner, a frantic woman in a tailored black suit, rushed over from the catering pavilion, wringing her hands in absolute panic. "Clara! Julian! What on earth are we going to do? The guests are waiting, the caterers are panicking, and the officiant doesn't know whether to start or go home!"
Clara looked around the grand hall, then toward the sunlit garden terrace where the white silk marquee fluttered gently in the breeze. The illusion of perfection was gone, replaced by something far more valuable: reality, honesty, and a clean slate.
"We're going to get married," Clara announced clearly, her voice carrying across the hall. "Just not the way we planned. No lies, no pretenses, just us."
The wedding planner blinked rapidly, processing the radical shift before a slow smile broke across her face. "Right. Understood. Give me ten minutes to rearrange the seating and inform the officiant."
As the planner hurried off, little Victoria picked up her white bouquet from where she had left it earlier on the velvet chair. She walked over to Clara, holding the flowers out with both hands.
"The path is clear now," Victoria said simply.

Clara knelt down, taking the bouquet from the little girl, and pressed a gentle kiss to Victoria’s blonde curls. "Thank you for helping me find the key, Victoria."
Victoria simply nodded, her bright blue eyes twinkling with a knowing warmth that defied explanation. She turned and ran lightly toward the garden terrace, her white dress bouncing with joyful energy.
