Chapter 11: The First Birthday

A few months later, the family celebrated Arthur’s ninth birthday—the first birthday he ever had with both parents present. The living room was filled with colorful balloons, laughter, and the sweet aroma of home-baked chocolate cake.

Olivia looked vibrant and healthy, her laughter echoing through the halls—a sound Julian thought he would never hear again. Arthur blew out his candles with a bright, genuine smile that reached his eyes.

""What did you wish for?"" Olivia asked, wiping a smudge of frosting off his nose. Arthur looked from his mother to his father, who had his arm gently wrapped around Olivia’s waist. ""I don't need to wish for anything,"" Arthur said softly. ""My wish already came true.""
