Chapter 12 - Sanctuary of Secrets

They tumbled into the bunker just as a hail of high-caliber rounds impacted the exterior steel door with deafening force. Leo slammed the heavy manual override lever down, sealing the blast door shut and cutting off the terrifying roar of the machine gun outside.
The interior of the bunker was dimly lit by flickering fluorescent tubes, humming softly as they illuminated rows of heavy server racks stretching into the darkness. Monitors glowed with lines of rolling code, displaying encrypted data streams from across the entire national network.

Vance slumped against a server rack in the corner, his hands finally freed from the zip-ties by Clara before they entered. He looked defeated, staring blankly at the floor as the magnitude of what was happening finally set in.
"You think they'll put the director away?" Vance asked quietly, not looking up. "Men like him don't go to prison, Clara. They have contingency plans for their contingency plans."
"That's why we aren't just releasing files," Clara replied without breaking her rhythm. "We're releasing the location of every offshore account, every safe house, and every asset currently deployed to hunt us down. When the syndicate realizes the director sold them out to save his own skin, they'll handle the justice for us."
Suddenly, the main console screen flashed bright red, replacing the rolling code with a stark warning message:
