Chapter 8 - The Federal Raid

The blinding glare of tactical flashlights swept across the studio walls as four armed federal agents in heavy vests swarmed into the room, their boots pounding rhythmically against the floor.

"Hands where we can see them! Drop everything!" the lead agent barked, pointing a heavy-duty tactical light directly at Arthur Sterling.

Sterling froze, his hand still hovering over the vintage leather briefcase in Coach Vance's grasp. For a split second, his composure faltered, replaced by a flash of absolute disbelief. Then, with chilling swiftness, his face smoothed back into an unreadable mask of corporate indifference. He slowly raised his hands, turning to face the lead agent without a single trace of panic.

"There must be some misunderstanding, Officer," Sterling said smoothly, his voice dripping with practiced authority. "I am a major financial benefactor of this institution. These young ladies were merely discussing rehearsal logistics."

"Save it for the magistrate, Mr. Sterling," the lead agent snapped, stepping forward and clamping heavy steel handcuffs around Sterling's wrists with a definitive click. "You’re under arrest for securities fraud, embezzlement, and interstate racketeering."

As the two security guards were swiftly disarmed and cuffed against the mirrors, Zoe let out a long, shaky breath, her knees suddenly feeling like water. Maya grabbed her arm, burying her face in Zoe’s grey hoodie with a soft sob of relief.

Coach Vance lowered the briefcase slowly, her arms trembling as federal agents gently relieved her of the heavy leather bag.

"Are you okay?" Zoe asked softly, looking down at Maya, who nodded tearfully.

Across the room, as Sterling was being led toward the exit in handcuffs, he paused. He turned his head slightly, fixing his cold, calculating eyes directly on Zoe. He didn't look angry anymore; instead, a strange, knowing smirk played at the corner of his mouth.

"You played your part well, Zoe," Sterling spoke loudly enough just for her to hear over the commotion. "But you really shouldn't have trusted the person who handed you the phone in the first place."

Zoe frowned, a cold knot tightening in her stomach. "What are you talking about?"

Before Sterling could answer, an agent roughly nudged him forward, pushing him out the doors into the hallway.

Coach Vance walked over slowly, looking exhausted and broken. She looked at Zoe and Maya with heavy, regretful eyes.

"He’s right, you know," Coach Vance said quietly, resting her hand on Zoe’s shoulder. "Sterling didn't come up with this embezzlement scheme alone. Someone inside this very academy fed him the financial passwords months ago."

Zoe stared at her instructor, a horrifying realization dawning on her. "Who?"

Coach Vance didn't answer right away. Instead, she pointed toward the open studio doors, where a lone figure was standing in the shadows of the hallway, watching them with a chilling, deadpan stare. It was Chloe.
