Chapter 15 - The New Dawn

The morning sun broke through the heavy grey clouds over Seattle, casting a brilliant, golden light across the polished marble floors of the grand dining room at Blackwood Manor. The space had been thoroughly cleaned, the shattered porcelain and spilled food of a nightmare long since cleared away. Eight-year-old Leo sat comfortably at the heavy mahogany dining table, eating a warm bowl of breakfast fruit from a proper ceramic plate, his blue eyes bright and free of tears as he looked out the bay windows at the sprawling gardens below.

Clara stood by the window, the morning breeze gently stirring her long brown hair as she reread the final lines of Noah's handwritten letter for the tenth time.

"Blackwood Enterprises is officially under your sole operational control, Clara."

Clara folded Noah's letter carefully and slipped it into the pocket of her cream dress. She looked around the magnificent dining room, feeling no ghosts of the past, only the quiet, steady strength of a future she had fought tooth and nail to secure.

"Thank you, Elena," Clara said sincerely, meeting the investigator's eyes with a warm, genuine smile. "For everything."

"Don't thank me yet," Elena replied with a rare, quiet grin. "Monday morning is your first official board meeting as CEO. The corporate sharks are going to be testing every single word you say."
