Chapter 12: The Verdict**

When the court reconvened, the room fell dead silent. Eleanor sat rigid, her knuckles white against her purse, while Clara sat with her hands folded, steady and serene.
Judge Hastings adjusted his glasses and looked down from the bench.
“In matters of custody, the law looks at the best interest of the child,” Hastings began, his voice echoing off the wood-paneled walls. “Wealth can provide comfort, but it cannot purchase character. The actions taken by the petitioner—orchestrating financial ruin, harassment, and reckless intimidation—demonstrate a fundamental unfitness to nurture a child.”
Eleanor gasped quietly, her manicured fingers trembling.
“This court finds full, permanent, and unencumbered custody remains with the mother, Clara Evans,” the judge declared firmly. “Furthermore, this court issues a permanent restraining order against Eleanor Sterling and refers the evidence of arson and witness tampering to the District Attorney’s office for immediate criminal investigation.”
The gavel struck the sound block like thunder: *BANG.*
Julian Ross slumped into his chair. Clara turned to Marcus, tears of immense relief finally spilling down her cheeks as they embraced.

Eleanor stood frozen, watching the mother and son walk freely toward the heavy oak doors, completely untouched by her millions.
