Chapter 13 - The Final Confrontation

The sound of Viktor’s voice echoed sharply across the empty concrete platform, causing Sterling to freeze mid-stride. Arthur gasped, dropping his clipboard as he spun around in sheer terror, his eyes widening at the sight of the man they thought had burned to death just hours earlier.
"Vance," Sterling said, recovering his composure with chilling speed. He didn't run; instead, a cruel, mocking smile spread across his face as he adjusted his immaculate leather gloves. "I must admit, your persistence is almost admirable. But you walked right into a trap."
Before Viktor could respond, the shadows atop the adjacent shipping container cranes came alive. Half a dozen snipers in full tactical gear stepped out onto the catwalks, their rifle lasers painting a grid of deadly red dots across Viktor’s chest and shoulders.
"Drop the gun, Viktor!" Sterling commanded, his voice dripping with triumphant malice. "You brought the girl right back to the slaughterhouse. How poetic."
Clara stepped out from the shadows behind Viktor, refusing to cower any longer. "It's over, Sterling!" she shouted, her voice ringing clear and strong across the dock. "The federal investigators have the master ledger! They know you murdered my father and embezzled millions from the board!"
Sterling laughed, a dry, grating sound that echoed over the water. "My dear girl, do you really think a few lines in a ledger can touch me? Hayes is a mid-level bureaucrat. By the time his superiors review the files, I'll be halfway across the Atlantic."
"You won't be going anywhere," a booming voice echoed from the access road behind them.
The darkness suddenly erupted with the flashing blue and red lights of a dozen federal tactical vehicles swarming onto the dockyard. Investigator Hayes stepped out from the lead van, flanked by heavily armed federal agents whose assault rifles were trained squarely on Sterling’s snipers.
"Drop your weapons! Federal agents! You are completely surrounded!" Hayes shouted through a bullhorn.
Panic instantly shattered the calm demeanor of Sterling’s private security detail. The snipers on the catwalk hesitated, lowering their rifle barrels as federal spotlights blinded them from below. Sterling’s face drained of color, his corporate mask finally cracking under the overwhelming weight of impending defeat.
"Do it, Arthur!" Sterling hissed desperately, grabbing the metal briefcase from the butler's hands. "Shoot them!"

Arthur panicked, pulling a hidden revolver from his coat pocket and leveling it directly at Clara’s chest.
