Chapter 5: The Glass Fortress**

By dusk, the van pulled into the basement garage of a nondescript brutalist building in downtown Lyon. This was the St. Jude Archive—on paper, an architectural preservation charity; in reality, a digital sanctuary for investigative whistle-blowers.

Marcus led Camille through three biometric security doors into a climate-controlled server room humming with cooling fans. A team of four analysts sat before glowing monitors, their fingers flying across mechanical keyboards.

"We have her," Marcus announced.

A woman in her late thirties with silver-streaked dark hair stood up from the central terminal. Her badge read *Director Vance*. She looked down at Camille, her stern expression softening instantly.

"Arthur said you were brave, but seeing you stand here after crossing two borders alone... your mother would be extraordinarily proud."

"Where is the final server?" Camille asked, unwilling to rest until her task was finished. "My father said the brass key unlocks the physical master drive."

Director Vance guided her to an antique safe embedded directly into the reinforced concrete pillar in the center of the room. The keyhole matched the cipher on Camille’s necklace perfectly.

"The moment you turn that key," Vance warned, "a global data dump will initiate to forty international news agencies and Interpol. The Consortium will fall, but their operatives will know precisely where this signal originated. We will have less than five minutes to evacuate."

Camille looked at the small key. She remembered her father teaching her how to plant apple seeds in their garden, telling her that the most important things in life take years to bloom in secret.

"Turn it," Camille said firmly.
