Upon returning to the Chesapeake, Allison used the multi-million-dollar whistleblower restitution award to establish *The Evelyn Vance Center for Elder Dignity and Legal Rights*.

The center was not housed in an intimidating corporate glass tower in the city.

Allison purchased a five-acre historical waterfront parcel adjacent to her family home in St. Michaels, hiring Caleb Cross to design and construct a sustainable timber-frame campus of low-cost legal clinics, community gardens, and an adult day-care pavilion.

The pavilion featured soaring timber trusses made from local white oak, wide sunlit verandas overlooking the marsh, and a free legal assistance clinic where volunteer attorneys helped elderly citizens secure protective trusts, contest fraudulent medical bills, and escape abusive conservatorships.

On opening day in late June, over two hundred local residents, watermen, retired teachers, and their families gathered on the lawn for the dedication ceremony.

Evelyn Vance stood at the wooden podium, wearing a bright floral dress, her face radiant with health and joy as she cut the ceremonial ribbon with a pair of antique garden shears.

The crowd erupted into joyous applause, the sound drifting across the quiet waters of the bay like music.

Standing near the timber archway, Caleb walked up beside Allison, wiping cedar sawdust from his hands.
