Chapter 11 - The Video on the Nightstand

The small blue LED indicator on Ramon’s abandoned tablet blinked rhythmically against the dark wood of the nightstand. Trina stood in the doorway of her master bedroom, her heart skipping a single beat as she stared at the glowing screen. The file name—*The Truth About the Tokyo Account*—seemed to mock her in the silent, empty room.

She walked slowly across the plush carpet, her footsteps entirely silent now. She had dismantled his life, frozen his assets, and seen him hauled away in handcuffs, yet here, sitting quietly in her own sanctuary, was a final piece of a puzzle she hadn't even known was incomplete.

With trembling fingers, Trina reached out and tapped the screen.

The video file opened instantly. The camera angle was shaky, apparently recorded from a hidden dashcam inside a luxury car parked in an underground garage. Two figures were visible in the dim lighting: Ramon and a man Trina immediately recognized as her own cousin, Leo—the very person she had trusted to oversee the family's international shipping logistics.

Trina’s breath caught in her throat as the audio began to play.

“Are you sure Trina doesn't suspect anything about the shipping manifests?” Ramon’s voice echoed from the tablet's speakers, sounding far more confident and ruthless than the desperate man she had faced outside the restaurant hours ago.

“Relax, Ramon,” Leo’s voice replied smoothly, a cold chuckle cutting through the audio. “Trina only looks at the bottom-line net profits. She doesn't check the customs declarations for the Tokyo ports. As long as we keep funneling the surplus inventory through the shell company, she’ll never know we’re siphoning off half a million dollars every quarter.”

Trina gripped the edge of the nightstand so hard her knuckles turned completely white. Her own cousin. The person she had raised from a difficult financial slump, giving him a high-level position in her family’s enterprise, was not just a bystander—he was the master architect behind Ramon's entire financial betrayal.

The video continued, revealing deeper layers of deceit.

“And what about the divorce papers?” Leo asked on the screen. “Did you convince her to sign them yet?”

“Not yet,” Ramon’s recorded voice sneered. “She’s too smart for standard pressure. I have to make her think I’m the victim so she initiates it out of disgust. Once she files, the pre-nup clauses kick in, and I walk away with fifty percent of the primary holdings.”

Trina stared at the screen, the room spinning slightly around her. It wasn't just an affair. It wasn't just a stolen travel suitcase or a foolish mid-life scheme with a desperate mistress. It was an institutional conspiracy orchestrated by the two men she trusted most in the world to strip her family’s legacy down to its bare bones.

She reached out and paused the video, the frozen image of her cousin Leo smiling wickedly at Ramon filling the small screen.

Without a single second of hesitation, Trina picked up her phone, bypassed Attorney Santos, and dialed a direct, encrypted number that connected straight to the national financial crimes investigation unit.

"This is Trina Rosales," she said, her voice dropping into an absolute, razor-sharp register of pure vengeance. "I am updating an active fraud report. I need an immediate asset seizure and arrest warrant issued for Leo Reyes for corporate racketeering and systemic embezzlement."

As the officer on the other end began typing furiously, a sharp, distinct knock echoed from the heavy oak front door of the penthouse.
