Chapter 3: The Boardroom Siege**

The 50th floor of the Sterling Tower was an arena of polished marble and cold ambition. By nine in the morning, twelve board members sat around the mahogany table, whispering anxiously among themselves. At the head sat Arthur Sterling—Julian’s father—an aging titan with steel-gray hair and ruthless discipline.

The double doors swung open. Julian walked in, dressed in a sharp charcoal three-piece suit. Behind him, holding Clara’s hand, walked little Ewan, dressed in a neat blue blazer.

A collective gasp swept through the room.

"What is the meaning of this circus, Julian?" Arthur barked, slamming a gold fountain pen onto the table. "We are finalizing the merger with Victoria’s conglomerate. This is no place for a stray child."

"He is not a stray child, Father," Julian stated, his voice ringing with absolute clarity across the boardroom. "This is Ewan Sterling. My legitimate son and the sole named beneficiary of Elena Vance’s estate."

Victoria, seated beside Arthur with her lawyers, offered a patronizing smile. "A touching performance, Julian. But Elena died without legal proof of paternity on record. Without my family's financial underwriting, this company falls into receivership by noon."

"Elena didn't die without proof," Clara spoke up, stepping forward into the light of the boardroom. She placed a certified hospital ledger and DNA confirmation directly in front of Arthur. "She died trying to protect him from the same board members who cut her family's medical research funding."

Arthur’s hand trembled as he picked up the document. He looked up from the paper to the boy, catching the undeniable reflection of his own youthful eyes in his grandson's face.

"Julian," Arthur whispered, the harshness cracking in his voice. "Is this true?"

"Every word," Julian replied. "Now decide, Father. Do we build an empire on lies, or do we protect our blood?"
